Ramshackle Glam (Tumblr): Cozy Winter Brunch Spots... →
ramshackleglam:
It’s snowing!
And that means cozy sweaters, Hunter boots, and brunch anywhere you can find a fireplace.
I gave Andrea at BrunchCritic a ring to find out her top picks for Cozy Winter Brunch Spots in NYC, and these were her top five:
Tiny’s (Tribeca): In Tribeca, the land of enormous, loft-like spaces, Tiny’s is an adorable miniature spot with a fireplace to be reckoned with....

Brunch at Sant Ambroeus
Extra Virgin is one of my favorite brunch spots in the city thanks to the mix of solid food and tremendous people watching. It also happens to be located directly next to Sant Ambroeus, which receives equally fantastic reviews, but for some reason has never piqued my interest over the past couple years.
This past Saturday, I finally cheated on Extra Virgin...

We started the weekend with a date night, and started that date night at Pizzeria Uno, mostly because we heard that you get a deal on your movie tickets if you eat at Pizzeria Uno first. As it turns out, the deal was for a different movie theater than the one we were planning to go to (we saw The Cabin in the Woods - loved it), but that’s fine, because the end result was that...

Tell me that doesn’t look like the best thing on the planet. That’s the brunch pizza at Gina La Fornarina, which I write about…oh, all the time…and it’s what I ate for my birthday brunch on Saturday, post-playground excursion. (If you go, the brunch pizza is no longer on the menu, but they’ll still make it for you if you ask nicely.)

My Life: Chowdafest 2012 →
hawaiigurlinct:
Saturday was for stuffing my face with 30 different chowders from Fairfield county restaurants at the Annual Chowdafest in Westport. I don’t remember ever hearing about a past Chowdafest but at some point in time I had written a note to myself to check out this February event. And who am I to argue with myself, after all? Turns out, I was not disappointed. Chowdafest 2012 was...

: West Village Hideaway: Aria →
caseyculture:
Last night I spent 3+ hours at Aria Wine Bar, perhaps my favorite little whole in the wall in the city.
Darkly lit Aria serves fairly inexpensive wine in full-to-the-brim glasses and a huge variety mix of Venetian small plates and pastas on communal tables and a kitchen island-esque bar, creating a very, very intimate atmosphere. I’d recommend:
Burratta and Prosciutto

Bobby Big Wheel: My Quest For The Eater 38 Part 2:... →
bobbybigwheel:
I was six away from getting all 38 of the Eater 38. Moreover, two of the eateries that I had not yet patronized (Sripraphai and Le Bilboquet) were either closed or on the verge of closing. Really, I was four away. So I didn’t mind when, the night before the new 38 was released, I had to cancel my Chin Chin reservations. Hell, maybe I could even pad my total when the new list...
Bobby Big Wheel: My quest for the Eater 38 →

After my infamous Summer in Sandwiches, I needed a new eating quest. It’s in my DNA; if you did some oddball personality test on me my “must complete lists” and “likes food” traits would be off the charts. After a few minutes of wandering across the Internet desert, I came across the Eater 38, a list of the 38 most relevant restaurants of the moment. One of the great parts of...
Bobby Big Wheel: A Summer in Sandwiches →

In early June, New York Magazine posted its list of the Top 101 Sandwiches in New York. I love food, I’m cheap, and I don’t cook, so the list was naturally alluring to me. A friend suggested I try to eat all 101, but that was never feasible. I work long hours so I can’t devote too much time to the quest. And I’m a picky eater who both is lactose intolerant and doesn’t really...

We didn’t want to go too far from home, so we ended up getting dinner at a place Francesca recommended, Jones Wood Foundry. It’s a gastropub with awesome decor (big, wooden communal tables, leather armchairs, cozy corners, etc) and fancified takes on traditional English dishes like bangers & mash and cottage pie. I got the burger with Stilton cheese and bacon; Kendrick got...

You had me at ”bone marrow butter”…
The grilled-cheese trend don’t stop: The latest option for melted cheese lovers is Little Muenster, opening Tuesday on the Lower East Side. Owners Adam Schneider and Vanessa Palazio based some of their creative flavor mash-ups on favorite pastas, like one sandwich with leek confit, Gruyère, and pancetta (chevre was added for an acidic kick),...

Donuts4Dinner's Review of Per Se
via Donuts4Dinner
Stepping through the sliding glass partitions to the left and right of Per Se‘s unmistakable and infamously nonfunctioning blue door should be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for a country gal like me, but I’m fortunate to have a boyfriend with an insatiable appetite for tasting menus (okay, okay, it’s not just him with the appetite). So when I was finally able to make a...

I This was our second time at NEXT. It was even better than the last. This time we found the nondescript door on our first try. This time we wore jeans . This time we were greeted by name and the adorable hostess, Ashley, led us to a table in the opposite corner from where we sat last time. We figured we would give you a different view of the dining room, she explained. Which...
My Life: Madison Square Eats →
hawaiigurlinct:
I’m so sad I didn’t learn about all the amazing food at Madison Square Park until it was in its last week. This place was amazing! Basically there were food trucks from all around holding up (temporary) shop from lunch to dinner. We stopped by after dinner at Eataly when it was raining out so there was no one there and all the stalls were closing up for the night. But walking...
